Alegria: A Story of the Sea, Vision, and Courage

People often ask us how Alegria came to be. The answer is simple: it was born during a vacation.

We were in France, on our boat, moored in a marina. Right in front of us, a large catamaran was operating, organizing daily and evening excursions. Every day we observed the same scene: dozens and dozens of people queuing to get on board. Families, couples, groups of friends, tourists. All with the same expression: anticipation, curiosity, enthusiasm. At one point, we asked ourselves: “What’s so special up there?” So, we decided to find out.

We personally met the owner who, with great generosity, invited some of us on board, and only then did we truly understand. They weren't just selling a trip; they were selling an emotion, a different way of experiencing the sea. An experience that combined beauty, freedom, conviviality, and carefree joy.

As we experienced that day, our thoughts immediately turned to a specific place: La Spezia and its extraordinary Gulf of Poets. It wasn't a random choice. It's our home territory, the place we come from, which we know deeply and live in every day.

We envisioned Portovenere, with its colorful houses overlooking the water and the Church of San Pietro suspended between sky and sea. We thought of Palmaria Island, wild and authentic, with its hidden coves and crystal-clear water. And Lerici, elegant and welcoming, with its castle dominating the bay.

These places are not just destinations for us; they are part of our identity. That's precisely why we felt the desire to highlight them and tell their story from our perspective.  

From that moment, our journey began. A journey that lasted about a year and a half, filled with enthusiasm, hard work, investments, planning, and inevitable challenges.

The biggest challenge came when, after commissioning the construction of the catamaran, we discovered that Italian regulations required much stricter design and construction standards than initially anticipated. This meant longer timelines, much higher costs, and new hurdles to overcome. But we never once thought of stopping. Never.

Because by then, Alegria was no longer just a project; it had become a vision. And like all important visions, it deserved to be brought to life.

Today, seeing the catamaran finally in La Spezia, watching people board for the first time, and recognizing in their eyes the same wonder we felt in that French port, is probably the greatest satisfaction.

For us, Alegria represents the opportunity to offer people four things: Freedom, Beauty, Emotion, and Fun. But above all, it demonstrates that dreams, when accompanied by determination, the right people, and a lot of hard work, can transform into something real.

Because Alegria isn't just a catamaran: it's an idea, it's an experience.

It's a dream that has set sail, but the best is yet to come.
